15-11-04 New Operations Director for Vehicle and Operator Services Agency
VOSA would like to announce the appointment of Alastair Peoples as the new Operations Director of VOSA (the Vehicle & Operator Services Agency). He will replace Bob Tatchell who was the Operations Director of VOSA for 10 years.
Alastair Peoples’ appointment follows an open competition. He will take up his new role on 7 December. Alastair has 26 years experience working for the Driver & Vehicle Testing Agency (DVTA) in Northern Ireland. In his last role as Director of Technical Policy & Legislation he was responsible for developing quality standards for driving tests, technical policies, legislation and research into new equipment and test methods.
Bob Tatchell left VOSA in June 2004 after and is now working for the Licensing, Roadworthiness and Insurance Division of the Department for Transport.

NOTES TO EDITORS
VOSA is responsible for:
• Processing applications for licences to operate lorries and buses and registering bus services
• Operating and administering testing schemes for all vehicles, including the supervision of the MOT testing scheme
• Enforcing the law on vehicles to ensure that they comply with legal standards and regulations
• Enforcing drivers' hours and licensing requirements
• Supporting Traffic Commissioners to help them make informed decisions on operator licensing, vocational drivers and bus registration requirements
• Providing training and advice for commercial operators
• Investigating vehicle accident, defects and recalls.
