13-12-07 VOSA wins prestigious national award for MOT Computerisation
VOSA’s MOT Computerisation was announced as the winner of the Business-to-Business Project Award at the British Computer Society (BCS) IT Industry Awards, on 6 December.
MOT Computerisation beat off stiff competition from both the public and private sector. Over 600 nominations were originally received from which one winner was selected in each of the 23 categories.
VOSA’s Private Vehicles Director, Alex Fiddes collected the trophy from the BBC’s Kate Silverton at a glittering ceremony at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel. The awards recognise excellence, professionalism and innovation in IT and the citation from the judging panel read "A challenging project that brings real benefit to the motor industry".
Mr Fiddes said, “I am delighted to have won this award which acknowledges the hard work and dedication put in by VOSA, our partners Siemens IT Solutions and Services and, especially, the MOT Trade who have enthusiastically embraced the MOT Computerisation system”.
David Clarke, BCS Chief Executive, said, “This year’s awards are a fitting culmination to our 50th anniversary year which has been exceptional. Technology has enabled unparalleled improvements in productivity and business efficiency over the last 50 years and today IT drives business. These winners have embraced this concept and proven their excellence in innovation and professionalism; they exemplify the importance and value that technology brings to business, society and the economy.”
MOT Computerisation has already been awarded ‘Highly Commended’ at the Public Private Finance Awards 2007, was a finalist at the Government Computing Awards for Innovation 2007 and is also a finalist in two categories at the E-Government Awards 2007; the winners will be announced on 22 January 2008.
