07-05-09 VOSA signs MOT agreement

Alastair Peoples, Acting Chief Executive of the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) signed a new Service Level Agreement with the Trade Associations today on behalf of Authorised Examiners and Nominated Testers of the MOT scheme.

The agreement sets out an understanding between VOSA and the Trade Associations in respect of the levels of service they can expect from VOSA, including education, compliance, enforcement and MOT computer issues.

It also covers the standards and behaviours which the trade will be encouraged to adopt when Nominated Testers and Authorised Examiners are in contact with VOSA staff.

Authorised Examiners and Nominated Testers are represented by The Retail Motor Industry Federation, Scottish Motor Trade Association, The MOT Trade User Group and VTS Council.

Alastair Peoples said:

“This Agreement is a clear demonstration of VOSA and the Trade Associations, ’ MOT Authorised Examiners and Nominated Testers commitment to working together to raise standards. VOSA fully supports the Service Level Agreement, an initiative that further raises awareness and safety standards. Communication is key to the success of this agreement, in continuing to develop an improved relationship with our customers.”

The Service Level Agreements is part of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) which represents a long-term commitment between VOSA, the Trade Associations, MOT Authorised Examiners and Nominated Testers.

The agreement will be available to view at www.VOSA.gov.uk under VOSA Standards of Service.
