08-06-09 Enquiry line advice misleading

VOSA is advising vehicle testing stations to continue using its national enquiry line following incorrect reports that information logged by VOSA could affect MOT Risk Scores.

The claim which has been made by certain publications and websites is being strongly denied by VOSA. Any information received by VOSA is treated confidentially and is not used for any other purpose than to deal with the enquiry.

Kevin Rooney, VOSA Customer Director said:

“We welcome the opportunity to help garages understand the scheme and get things right and I hope people are not put off by these claims. As VOSA is the authoritative source we would advise garages that they should always contact us for advice on any aspect of the MOT scheme. ”

The national enquiry line number is 0300 123 9000 and the call is charged at local rates. The lines are open Mon-Fri 07.30 - 18.00 and Saturday’s between 08.30 and 15.00.
