Investors in People

The Investors in People (IiP) national standard, introduced in 1991, is aimed at encouraging companies to invest in their workforce. IiP is a quality award that provides a framework for employers to develop their people and to structure their training and development activity as a business investment.

The standard has 4 key principles:

  • commitment;
  • Action,
  • Planning; and,
  • Evaluation.

To achieve accreditation against the standard organisations have to prove not only that they meet each element, but that there is a continuous will to improve their development practices and techniques.

The Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) achieved IiP accreditation in January 2000. Our Directors and Senior Managers remain committed to the organisation using IiP as the benchmark of our training and development activities and as a key investment in the future success of the organisation.
