12-03-04 Automotive Show

VOSA is to attend the Automotive Trade Show, which for the first time will be part of the Commercial Vehicle Show, the second largest road transport event in Europe , They will be demonstrating the new MOT Computerisation system which is due to begin rolling out to garages later in 2004. The show will be held at the NEC Birmingham between 23 and 25 March 2004.

As well as a demonstration of some of the functions of the system, visitors will also be able to see the physical computer system as it will appear once installed in a Vehicle Testing Station (VTS). New receipt-style MOT certificates, vehicle specific checklists and advisory notices together with other documentation that will be used under the new system will also be previewed at the show.

VOSA staff attending the exhibition will able to answer questions on how the system will work and the impact it will have on testing stations.

Steve Tonks, Head of MOT Compliance & Computerisation at VOSA, and responsible for the MOT Computerisation programme said, "I am very pleased that we are able to be part of this important event. Garage owners and mechanics will be able to come along to our stand and get a feel for how MOT Computerisation will work. Once we begin rolling out the system to garages it will help to raise testing standards and so improve road safety and consumer protection".

Motor trade professionals interested in MOT computerisation can find out more by visiting VOSA’s stand (12 -104) at the show or by calling the MOT helpline on 0845 600 5977 or by visiting www.vosa.gov.uk.
