16-01-04 MOT Scheme at the Autosport Show
VOSA attended the recent Autosport International/PACE show was held at Birmingham NEC from 8 to 11 January 2004. As well as promoting all aspects of the current MOT scheme, VOSA gave visitors the opportunity to find out more about the new MOT Computerisation system.
Over 800 MOT garage owners and mechanics visited the VOSA stand during the four days of the exhibition. One of the highlights was seeing the actual computer equipment that will be used to run MOT Computerisation once installed in a Vehicle Testing Station (VTS). Visitors could also see new receipt-style MOT certificates and other documentation that will be issued under the new system.
Steve Tonks, Head of MOT Compliance & Computerisation at VOSA said, "I am very pleased that so many garage owners and mechanics were able to come along to our stand and get a feel for how MOT Computerisation will work. Once we begin rolling out the system to garages it will help to raise testing standards and so improve road safety and consumer protection".
Garage owners, mechanics and the public will get another chance to speak to
VOSA staff on MOT issues including computerisation at the following shows:
MechanEx 2004 at Donnington Park from 11 to 12 February 2004
Automotive Trade Show (ATS) at NEC Birmingham from 23 to 25 March 2004
