20-03-06 VOSA welcome new directors
Two new directors have joined VOSA this month, David Trussler as Commercial Customer Services Director and Tony Downes as Passenger Vehicles Director.
David Trussler will lead delivery of customer focused services exploiting the latest e-enabled technology. He will be responsible for new product development and marketing the Agency’s services to commercial customers as well as acting as the Agency’s Consumer Champion. David Trussler has spent most of his career in the Information and Communication Technology Sector and has joined VOSA from Ordnance Survey. He has extensive experience in e-business, programme management, sales and marketing and change management.
Tony Downes will be responsible for leading the strategic relationship with VOSA’s passenger vehicle customers and identifying the contribution VOSA can make to their successful operation while meeting safety and environmental standards. Tony joined VOSA from the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME). He is a qualified engineer with extensive expertise in operations, logistics, engineering and human resources.

VOSA (Vehicle & Operator Services Agency) is an executive agency of the Department for Transport. It is responsible for:
• Processing applications for licences to operate lorries and buses and registering bus services
• Operating and administering testing schemes for all vehicles, including the supervision of the MOT testing scheme
• Enforcing the law on vehicles to ensure that they comply with legal standards and regulations
• Enforcing drivers' hours and licensing requirements
• Supporting Traffic Commissioners to help them make informed decisions on operator licensing, vocational drivers and bus registration requirements

• Investigating vehicle accidents, defects and recalls
