21-09-07 VOSA and DSA at Coach and Bus Live 2007
VOSA (Vehicle and Operator Services Agency) and DSA (Driving Standards Agency) will be exhibiting at Stand A110 on 10-11 October at this year’s Coach and Bus Live trade exhibition.
Coach and Bus Live 2007 at the Birmingham NEC is a great platform for Government Agencies like VOSA and DSA to provide practical information for drivers and operators on a range of topics including the recent changes on Drivers’ Hours, low emissions testing or the implementation of Driver CPC in 2008.
On 11 April 2007, the old Drivers’ Hours Regulations (3820/85) were replaced by a new regulation (EC) 561/2006. VOSA experts will be providing advice for operators and drivers to assist in understanding the rules. A practical demonstration on the use of digital tachographs will also be available.
DSA will be continuing their awareness campaign for the new Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) qualification, which comes into effect from 10 September 2008. This means that all new bus and coach drivers will be required to take an enhanced theory and practical test, and existing drivers will need to undertake periodic training in order to gain their Driver CPC, if they wish to drive professionally.
The aims of Driver CPC are to improve road safety, recognise and accredit the skills of professional drivers and to raise the status of driving as a profession. Staff from the Driving Standards Agency will be on hand to answer any questions drivers and operators may have.
