11-09-08 Hundred millionth MOT test award for garage
Budget Auto Centre in Stirling was presented with a special award by the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) on Wednesday (10th) for recording the 100 millionth MOT test.
At 11.12am on Wed 6th August 2008, Graeme Beveridge recorded a pass for a Volkswagen Transporter van on the computerised MOT system. Unknown to them, this was the 100 millionth test to be recorded on the system since it went live in April 2005. In recognition of this major milestone, both VOSA and Siemens made presentations to the garage.
The system was designed, built, implemented and is managed by Siemens IT Solutions and Services for VOSA.
MOT Computerisation has proved to be very reliable and has won several awards, including winner in the 2007 BCS IT Industry Project Excellence Awards and winner in the Central e-Government National Excellence Awards. It was also used by the world-renowned researchers, Gartner, as a case study in best practice during their recent international summit on outsourcing.
Alex Fiddes, VOSA’s Chief Operating Officer, said:
“I am delighted by the success of MOT Computerisation. Having now recorded the results of 100 million MOT tests onto our database it is clear that the system is delivering real benefits for MOT garages and motorists alike, such as enabling people to tax their vehicles on-line. This system reflects how VOSA is leading the way in highly innovative, efficient and effective government services delivery.”
