15-04-08 VOSA Business Plan Published
VOSA has today published its Business Plan for 2008/09 setting out how it plans to continue to save lives by making Britain’s roads safer, as well as helping to protect the environment and cut crime.
The plans for the coming year build on the successes of 2007/08 in which VOSA achieved:
• high customer satisfaction as confirmed by MORI
• a significant increase in the take-up of award-winning on-line services
• delivery of new web-based services, including the first test booking on-line which will become widely available to customers during this year
• a 30% improvement in our testing consistency for commercial vehicles
• over 90% of commercial tests booked within 1 working day of the requested date where we were given 10 working days’ notice or more
• new national risk-based inspection assessments on all MOT garages
• over 10% increase in the number of dangerous drivers and vehicles removed from the roads, contributing to safer and more reliable journeys
• delivery of £21m investment in our estate and equipment for testing and enforcement
Stephen Tetlow, VOSA’s Chief Executive said:
“VOSA did really well last year against demanding and challenging Government targets. However, our customers and the public demand and expect more and more from us. Over the coming year we will continue to improve the availability and consistency of vehicle testing and licensing. We will invest a further £14m in our core testing, licensing and enforcement facilities. And we also have more new innovative services coming on-line. I’m delighted that VOSA is to receive £24m in additional funding for targeting high-risk traffic as announced last week by the Road Safety Minister, Jim Fitzpatrick. Over the period of this investment, we will deliver an increase of over 50% in targeted enforcement of high-risk traffic, making the roads safer for everyone.”
