22-09-08 MOT tester guilty of fraud after VOSA investigation
A man was found guilty of fraudulently issuing MOT Certificates at Sheffield Magistrates Court on 17 September 2008, after a tip-off from his employer led to an investigation by the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA).
Nominated tester, Matthew Hudson, was working at Nationwide Autos Ltd in Doncaster and issued four MOT certificates to vehicles which had never been to the test station.
As a result of the VOSA investigation which began in April 2008, Mr Hudson was found guilty of four offences of fraud and four offences of issuing a false document. He was sentenced to a 100 hours community supervision order.
VOSA Chief Operating Officer, Alex Fiddes said:
“I am very pleased with the result of this investigation. We want people to know that, in order to make the roads safer for the public, VOSA will search out and prosecute those who abuse the MOT testing system.”
