23-01-08 VOSA collects second award for MOT Computerisation

MOT Computerisation was named winner on 22 January 2008 at the e-Government National Awards 2007 in the category 'Central e-Government excellence: Take-up & usage growth'.

VOSA beat off strong competition in this category from well known and high profile IT Projects such as DVLA for Electronic Vehicle Licensing, Revenue & Customs for Self Assessment On-Line, and the Prime Ministers e-petition website.

The award was in recognition of the high number of garages using electronic ordering and payment mechanisms for test slots and catalogue items. This is the second high profile national award won by MOT Computerisation in as many months. On 6 Dec 2007 VOSA was announced as the winner of the Best Project in the Business to Business category at the British Computer Society Project Excellence Awards.

Alex Fiddes, VOSA’s Director of Private Vehicles said:

“VOSA is delighted to have won another prestigious national award for MOT Computerisation. Having now recorded the results of almost 80 million MOT tests onto our database it is clear that the system is delivering real benefits for motorists and MOT garages alike. I am pleased that MOT Computerisation is achieving the recognition it deserves.“

Prime Minister Gordon Brown praised the nominees saying " I commend you all for your initiative, your drive and commitment to providing the public with the very best."

The Awards are the UK's highest level commendation for the best e-Government and technology-driven services-services, which through innovative on-line delivery or IT implementation have positively transformed the lives of citizens, local communities, business and stakeholder groups.
