25-03-08 Ashton Gate vehicle test station in Bristol now closed

After nearly 40 years, Bristol Goods Vehicle Test Station at Ashton Gate closed on 19 March, and will be moving to a new site at Merebank Road, Avonmouth, Bristol, BS11 8AQ.

Collin Field of Bath Bus Company was the last customer whose historic buses passed the annual test at Ashton Gate. He had been testing his vehicles at Ashton Gate for many years.

Martin Mortimer, Test Station Manager said:

“We would like to thank all of our customers who have been coming to Ashton Gate over the years and appreciate their patience through this time. Our staff is looking forward to seeing them at the new test station in Avonmouth with all the modern facilities.”

The new Bristol test station at Avonmouth will open for testing on 7th April 2008. In the Interim period customers who require tests are advised to book a test through calling VOSA’s National Number 0870 60 60 440.

Once fully operational at Avonmouth, customers will continue to book their tests through VOSA’s National Number 0870 60 60 440.
